Leaving the biggest comeback in Bowl history

So we went to the Insight Bowl this year like every other year. This year it was Texas Tech against Minnesota. We expected Texas Tech to blowout Minnesota but I'll just say that we were surprised. The game was at Sun Devil Stadium, which was a change of venue from last year and our seats were high up but pretty much as good as they get. The game started off sloppy and Texas Tech ended up going for it on forth down and on their next possession they threw an interception. Neither team had any type of defense that we could see. Minnesota jumped out to a 21-0 lead at the beginning of the second quarter.

We had set some guidelines earlier in the day so we could leave if there was a blowout. If a team was up by 28 or more at halftime or later then we would leave the game or if a team was up 24 and at least 3 of us were cold then we would leave. Well, the halftime score was 35-7 Minnesota and Texas Tech looked like shit. There was a play where Minnesota threw an interception and the TT guy was running it back and was near the end zone. He was about 7 yards away and fumbled the ball forwards into the end zone. A Minnesota player recovered the ball and it was a touchback for Minnesota. Yuck.

So we decided to leave at half time with the score being 35-7. Once we got home the score was 38-7 Minnesota with six minutes left in the third. We couldn't watch the game on tv because it was on NFL Network (wtf), so we just assumed the game was over. I got a call a few hours later from Megan saying that the game was in overtime. What the hell? I guess Texas Tech some how came back and sent the game into overtime with a 52 yard field goal at the end of regulation. We were all shocked. Texas Tech ended up winning in overtime.

It was the biggest comeback in college football bowl history (31 points) and I had left the game at half time. I just wish I would have stayed to see it all because it seems like it was pretty damb exciting. I guess I can say that I left early from the biggest comeback in Bowl history. Damb. I wonder how Minnesota blew the game. Did they run the ball every play and somehow Texas Tech stopped them without a defense? This seems so strange to me. Oh well, either way, I wish I could have seen it. I guess it's better to have seen part of it than none of it at all.

Nada

Nothing terribly interesting has happened recently. I'm on winter break and basically just waiting for Christmas and the trip to AZ. Meg's in FL and it's boring without her here. I've grinded up $2 that I had on ultimate bet up to around $70. Besides that I've enjoyed playing the $1 and $2 tourneys on PS. Recenly I've gotten deep into them and it's good tournament practice. I also just got HOH 1,2,3 and plan on reading them soon.

Is it me?

I'm definitely questioning the way I play cards. I'm not sure if it's just variance kicking me in the balls or I'm just not very good. Time for a few days break at least.

Many Topics

I'm not sure who reads this but even if no one reads it that's fine because it's my spot to just write what I'm thinking.

I know many people saw the Michael Richard's explosion at the comedy club. The next night he appologized on Letterman and he looked pretty bummed about it. I think he should be forgiven because anyone could be placed in that spot where people are heckling you. You never know what you'll say to get them to stop and he went to far with it, but anyone could have done it. This leads to a thing I've been thinking about.

How many white comedians are able to make fun of African Americans and not get in trouble? Yet African Americans are allowed to make fun of caucasians and can get away with it because ahh it's all a joke. This whole "equality" thing is messed up. It reminds me of the womens rights stuff. If you want to be treated equally then you have expect to be treated how everyone else is treated.

Of course you could bring up that African Americans have no been treated great in this country and they have been hated against for a while. Then how are we supposed to treat them equally? Should we treat them better than we treat white people? Should I say I'm sorry every time I see a black person? I know I don't know a whole lot about the issue but that's just my crappy take on it.

Well I sent my computer in to see if there was something wrong because the fan was making a lot of noise. I sent it in on monday and it is supposed to be back here on friday. I love HP and their fast and spectacular service.

Poker has not been going great recently. I've questioned if I even know how to play anymore. I can't see to win anything. Here's a great example of how it's been going recently:

Well I think I'll take a poker break for a little while. Jericho is on tonight and I think we might get Chipotle soon. Have a good day.

Friday, November 17, 2006

I got home a few hours ago for thanksgiving break. We're off the whole week which should be nice and relaxing. Chilled with Meg and Brian for a while.

I feel good saying that I actually cashed in a FT 25k. I placed 46th for $79. I lost when blinds were 1k/2k and I had about 14k and was in the sb. I found A4 and went all in and the bb called w/ AJ and that was it for me.

Spectacular Story

Registration for spring and J-term were pretty hectic. Yesterday and today have been crazy days. Basically Megan, some others, and I could not find a J-term class that would satisfy ANY requirements and there was no way I would take a class that wouldn't help me graduate. I was motivated to get any class that I could.

Yesterday my registration time started at 1, but I visited my advisor before then because I wanted to hear what he suggested for classes. He suggested four classes that were full and it seemed like we might have been out of luck, but he found out some positive information. Rumor was that they were going to open some spots in Dinosaurs, bookmaking, and exploring music, all of which are necessary classes for me. He said they would add the spots last night around 5 or 6.

I registered for my spring term with no problems, but I also registered for a back-up j-term class just to make sure I could get something (even though it was only a 1 credit class). So around 5 Meg and I started the crazy refresh party on the computer. This went on for an hour or two until we pretty much gave up. No new spots had opened so we took the rest of the night off. Megan called me this morning around 1:30 and told me that there were 5 open spots for the dinosaur class. We both tried dropping our backup class but for some reason the system wouldn't allow us to drop or add any J-term class. Megan basically went crazy and kept trying while I had some very peaceful sleep.

Meg came here around 7:30 so we could go talk to the people in the registrars office about signing up for the new j-term class. It was freezing outside but we made the long journey. Once we got there and they opened it was pretty much in and out. We both signed up for the dinosaur class. Meg went to her 8:00 class and I headed back to my room to read for Philosophy.

On the way to my 9:15 class some people told me that the teacher for Dinosaurs was very hard and that I should drop the class. I would have but I had no other class to take. I was supposed to have my 9:15 class but the teacher never showed up to play the movie so I was going to meet immediately with Megan to drop this new j-term class. She ended up going to class so I had to make the "long walk" back to my dorm.

I looked on the registration website and there were five openings in Discovery, a nonlab science class that I wanted to take. I texted Megan and told her and we planned on meeting at the registrars office after her class. Well, I ended up getting into Discovery and Megan also got out of the Dinosaur class and it taking Bus. Tech. It was a long and very eventful day to say the least.

This story might have sucked to you but it was very exciting and entertaining for me so that's all.

Not a whole lot

I haven't been up to a whole lot recently but I've been trying to qualify to 24+2 tourneys on FT through 8.80 satellites. I played a 24+2 tourney on FT yesterday and cashed in like 70 something for 38. Got it all in w/ 44 vs. 33 vs. A5 and the turn brought a 3. Oh well. Besides that there hasn't been a whole lot going on. It's been a pretty boring stretch of school and I've been up and down in cards.

Realization?

I am starting to realize/see that people around me and just in general mainly basically care about themselves. This is not directed at anyone, but we all (myself included) tend to worry about what we want, need, or feel will work out the best for us. Of course we should worry about ourselves, but why not everyone? I just thought about this because I am not sure that everyone knows that there are many interpretations of how someone can view something you say or the way you act towards them. Well, I'm done rambling about my crazy thoughts. Guess I'll go talk to a wall. See ya.

Time

Why do I hear lots of people claim that they don't have enough time? There is never enough time. Let's get this out of the way: I know some people are insanely busy and actually don't have time. But when I hear that someone doesn't have time I think they just don't have time for something besides what they want to do. I see it as more of a selfish thing. "I would hang out with you Bernard, but I'm busy doing homework." Is that person really busy or do they not want to chill with Bernard. The truth should be the thing that comes out even if it might hurt. It will certainly be easier to deal with if you hear the truth sooner than later. That's all. I'm busy with things so I'll cya later.

Sunday, September 24, 2006

Well it's been a while since an update. School started in early September and I've been playing cards but not as much as in the summer. I worked my br on PS up to around 360 and I've only played on ps recently. I'm a silverstar this month from mainly playing .50/1 HORSE tables. I placed in a 3.30 10k guaranteed tourney on thursday for about $33 but it sucked because I lost KJs to KJh. That one hurt a bit. That's all I've got for now but I'm just enjoying college and life at the moment.

Oh well, a final table is a final table. Stakes and antes were pretty high and I had to make a move. I'm happy that I won at something. After the $1 I got on Pokerstars I'm back up over 100 after that 1k withdrawl.

Also, the Sox kicked some ass tonight and are up 1 1/2 in the wild card. I fell confident that we can even win the central.
