It was a pretty good year. To sum it up:
got engaged
bought a place
got a dog
got my first 1k tournament cash
Goals for next year
• Lose some weight. I won't specify amounts but I'll leave it at some.
• Don't suck at life. Hopefully shouldn't be too difficult.
• Win at cards (won't set a specific amount but 5k would be nice) and keep good records. Again, hopefully shouldn't be too hard.
• Go to at least 1 baseball stadium that I haven't already been to.
• Make sure that the wedding is all that Meg can ask for.
• Win at least one pool
That's all I've got. I hope you have a good new year and I hope this year was just as good for you as it was for me.

HELLO
It's been a while since the last post obviously. Lots of stuff has happened so I'll just run it down and then get into what I really wanted to write/say. Bought a place w/ Meg, got engaged, got a dog, and lots of other amazing things. Blah blah you already know this stuff.
Football time is here, sadly. I have never really understood the hype and the popularity. The only thing I can really see is that no one really likes it but it's a way to get together with friends and family and drink. Also, with fantasy football people have a way to "compete" and own their own team, so there's somewhat of a rooting interest there. Besides that, I don't really get it. There are way too many commercials (guess that's how it is with everything), most of the game is spent standing around or waiting for the audience to come back from commercials, and the refs control too much of the game. It's never accurate when a ref spots the ball and the timeout before a kick to "ice" the kicker is just ridiculous.
For example.. the game tonight Pitt and Utah. Pitt is down 3 with 3 seconds left. The kicker makes a 30 yd field goal and then afterwords we found out that the opposing team's coach called a timeout. This was well after the play was over. Then the kicker kicks it again and misses it, but ohhhhhhhh the coach called another timeout. Really? On the third try he made it but the timeout crap is insane.
I could go on for a while describing reasons why I dislike football but I'm guessing most of the people who are reading this probably agree with me at least a little bit. Sadly, I'll probably still be forced to watch it (sorry Meg) because there won't be anything else on worth watching and the Sox may be out of the race by then.
Oh well, at least we'll still have soccer to watch and follow instead of football.
Go Illini?
edit: Also wanted to add that most of the football announcers are terribly annoying. The NFL guys all try to act really manly and "cool". I know you're a former player, but you don't have to act so smug. Maybe it's appealing to everyone else but I can't stand it.
