the finale

Ok Corral was better than I expected. We had ribs and fajitas which were very good and enjoyed the nice view of the beach. After that Meg got some ice cream and we spent a little time at the casino. When I read online that the first casino in town was the largest in Antigua I found that funny because it wasn't really that big. This one was reallllllllly small. I wanted to play blackjack but didn't really feel like it and the one table open was pretty full and I didn't want to play without Meg playing. She was more into the video poker.

After the casino we relaxed in the room, had some champagne and that was pretty much it.

Today ate some breakfast (exciting) and picked up some pictures and waited around for our 1:30 airport shuttle. Customs going out wasn't as bad as coming in but still no thrill. Flight was fine but the customs in Miami were terrible. We had to go through a bunch of stations which weren't clearly marked and eventually had to re check our bags and go through security all over again. It took at least an hour up to an hour and a half. I couldn't keep track but it was bad. I'm glad had a lot of time to waste between flights.

One thing that frustrated us was when we were at customs they checked some of the stuff that we brought back. We bought two bowls made of palm leaves (I think?) and they were investigating if we were allowed to bring them back. After ten minutes or so one of the guys threw them in the garbage and said that we couldn't keep them because there might be these certain bugs on them that we can't bring back into the country. Meg saw someone else who was also at Sandals who had a hat made out of the same material so she was pretty upset, understandably. We pointed that out and another guy came up and said that it was fine that we kept them so luckily we were able to bring them home. It would have really sucked if that second guy didn't come up and tell us because we would have gone insane.

Fight home was tough because it was so late and it was hard to sleep sitting straight up. Home now since about 1 or so.

We really enjoyed the trip. At first I thought it would be weird just having couples there but I really liked not having kids all around after a while. It was also nice having it all inclusive so we didn't have to pay for any meals or drinks. I would definitely go to another Sandals resort in the future and hopefully soon. I'm not looking forward to getting back into the normal routine and I know Meg isn't either.

Also wanted to add that I have probably about 10 mosquito bites all over right now because I think there were a few in our room each night and Meg barely has any. :(

Bed time probably and I'll really try to post some pictures tomorrow.

part four

yesterday (Thurs) we woke up assuming we would be doing our boat and snorkeling trip but since it was supposed to still rain and it was kinda dark they moved it to today. Yesterday, we ate breakfast at Mario's and claimed our spot at the pool which we didn't end up using. Turns out someone took our spot and something of Meg's anyway. We decided to hang out by the beach for most of the day which was nice. I was trying to avoid the sun since I felt like I got enough sun from a few days back.

I enjoy relaxing and reading most of the time but we went in the water a few times. It was fun and a great view. (Yeah pics are all coming at once it looks like) Dinner was at Mario's for Italian food. There was a 20-25 min wait to get in and there were no reservations required there but we wish we made some anyway. The meal was very good. I got something with shrimp and mussels in it with pasta. It reminded me a little of Olive Garden. The dessert was just as good. A chocolate explosion kinda of like Roy's but don't worry it wasn't as good as that.

We came back and Meg started watching a movie so I fell asleep because the movie sucked and for some reason she left me sleeping all night. I wanted to go to the casino but whatevarrrrrrrrr.

Today was the boat tour and snorkeling. I wasn't really looking forward to it because I'm not a huge water person, obviously, but I decided I would because I'm an amazing person. I'm glad we decided to do this one because it was from 9 or so to 12:30 and the one we originally scheduled was from 9 to 4:30 which would have been way too long.

The tour was great and the area is beautiful. If we somehow fall into a crap load of money I think I'd want to move to the island with a bunch of rich people. The snorkeling was difficult for me because it was hard getting used to breathing through my mouth and then salt water would get in your month but it was a good time. I would consider doing it again as long as we had people watching over us. They stopped the boat in the middle of the water near a reef and they were extremely helpful and good with us. It was a good time. We have some pics from there too.

After that we at lunch at Baysides and hung on the beach for a few hours. Meg really wanted a bowl that one of the vendors was making so we found him and had him make us a few things. They're pretty cool and hopefully they don't fall apart on the road home. You should see them. OMG.

Tonight we have dinner at Ok Corral. Tex Mex. We're not ready to come home but it must be done I guess. We want to just live here and relax. It's been great because everyone is really nice including all the vendors and everyone. Time to get ready for dinner.

part three

beach was nice yesterday because I didn't get too much sun. We had reservations at Eleanor's. The meal was pretty good with both of us getting an appetizer, meal, and dessert. It was the perfect amount of food so I didn't feel like I forced myself to eat Meg's leftovers or anything like a normal meal.

Sat around here after breakfast for a little while. Watched some of Unstoppable which kept me watching. It's not bad. Hung out at the pool for a while and read. Again, I avoided the sun because I'm already in pain and it's hard enough to sleep certain ways. We bought some sun tan spray which was $28 or so. Yeah, nice deal.

Dinner at the sushi bar was pretty great. The food was very good and we were in and out within an hour or so. It started raining softly a while ago but it's no big deal because it feels nice. Later tonight we might go to the casino next door or tomorrow.

Few things

There have been a lot more English people than I thought. I enjoy their accent and how things are said. I wonder if they feel the same about me.

A few times we've been walking with workers coming towards us. Since they drive on the left side of the road I feel like their initial reaction is to walk to the left side of the path which it has been a few times. Right?

part two

Hello friends.

yesterday we sat out on the beach for a while. I guess I suck at applying sun screen because I have redness with white splotches so I guess it didn't spread like I assumed. After reading on the beach and going in the water a few times (wish it was clear water) we relaxed at the pool and drank a lot of fruity drinks. Meg wasn't feeling so well after all the drinking and pizza eating so we napped and woke up late and grabbed some burgers around 11 or so.

Today we went into town early. There were a lot of people and taxis and lots of people trying to get us to go on tours and other miscellaneous stuff. There were a lot of jewelry stores that we went into because Meg wanted to see how much stuff was and if there was anything worth purchasing. Everything seemed a lot more expensive than at home. In a few of the stores it was hard finding anything under a few hundred dollars. We bought a few random things but nothing massive. We also went into the Kings Casino in town and Meg lost a few bucks on her weirdo games. I was going to play some blackjack but I figured we can head over to the casino right next to us soon anyway.

Just ate lunch and now relaxing before going out the the beach. The roads were really bumpy and I felt like we could have gotten into an accident multiple times. A tad scary.

Think that's all minus a few meals and other events that people probably don't care about. Tonight we have dinner reservations so I have to dress up nice. I'm looking forward to going to the sushi bar soon and hopefully not gettin burned anymore.

Pics coming soon but I'm too lazy to hook up the camera.

Quick Vacation Blog

We got here (Antigua) on Saturday. Flights were fine except on one of them we had to sit on the aisles next to each other so we weren't sitting right next to each other. Whatever, it could have been worse.

We waited in like for about an hour and a half at customs because a few other flights arrived around the same time we did and we were near the ass of the line. The drive here was funny because it's hard getting used to being on the other side of the road and the driver was insane and swerving in and out.

The room here is nice and having air conditioning is a must with the weather being so hot. Saturday night we ate at Cricketer's (English pub). Food was solid. Last night we ate at Bayside and had a seafood platter which was good. We sat right next to the beach which was really nice.

Eventually we'll get some sushi and other yummy stuff. We relaxed at the pool for a while yesterday and will probably go back today. We were supposed to go into town today to shop but that was cancelled so we're going tomorrow and there's a water tour that we're going to on Wednesday.

I like seeing the random cats and lizards around here. The weather is perfect. I just wish it was a little windier at times. That's all I have for now and I know it was random writing but deal with it. Maybe pics coming at some point?

The Seven Days of Cleaning

Let me start by saying I am a slob, as is Megan. To hopefully make our home cleaner I've designed the seven days of cleaning. Call it a shower idea or whatever makes you comfortable thinking about. Each day I (maybe Meg too?) will conquer one room and clean it like it's mine.

I'll post before and after pictures to show you how amazing my cleaning skills really are. I haven't decided if I'll post them on here or on +, but I'm leaning towards + because it's much easier and I don't even know if anyone reads this.

Here's the schedule I came up with:

Saturday, Oct 8: family room
Sun, Oct 9: master bedroom, including the bathroom
Mon, Oct 10: second bedroom, including bathroom
Tues, Oct 11: basement (WARNING for those keeping score. If I find extra time on one of the above three days I might start on the basement early.)
Wed, Oct 12: kitchen and table area
Thurs, Oct 13: garage. Not a whole lot to do in here so this could be a potential fall back day for kitchen
Fri, Oct 14: miscellaneous. Anything that's incomplete or has not been named.

Thoughts? Will my laziness get to me and make me look like a fool or will I do this? Even if you don't care which is cool, feel free to comment so that I know I'm not the only one reading my writing.

Bobble Challenge

I set aside $600. Let's call it The Money that I hope I get back from Full Tilt. I figured I'd have some fun with it because I like collecting bobbleheads and looking for good deals so I made a goal for myself. My goal is to collect all 49 (more likely 46 not including the special ones and kids club stuff and etc) Arizona Diamondbacks stadium giveaway bobbleheads as seen here (minus the two that are RARE) and not spend more than $600. By the way that link is awesome. I wish every team had a site like that. It's a tough goal especially with the shipping prices the way they are but I think if I'm patient then I may be able to get close to it but either way I'll have a good time doing it. Or I'll fail and you can laugh at me which will likely happen anyway. Why am I writing this? Because I think it's interesting, at least to me.

I've already been told that if I'm interested in the Diamondbacks bobbleheads then I probably lived in Arizona at one time so I should have an old friend from there ship the bobbles to me and that I'm an idiot. I haven't lived in Arizona (jokes on you!) so I must be an idiot. They can go together! I wasn't really called an idiot but I imagine Meg calling me one right now.

If you'd like to track my progress then here's the link to the spreadsheet I have right now and eventually if I feel like it or if anyone else cares then I may make it into a webpage. Enjoy?

Wish me luck and helpers are welcome*

2 yrs and I suck

Today has been two years at work. God I'm so old.

and stupid.

I make coffee every morning with the Keurig and I'm so used to making it and then walking away for a few minutes. I guess this morning I forgot to put my cup under it when I made it. I just cleaned up a big mess and there were barely any paper towels left. Don't tell Meg!

WTF Cos. It's still food

Cosmo had a little food left in the container before we got him another bag so some of his older food has been mixed in with his new. He has been eating the new food and picking out the old food and leaving it on the floor. Come on dude, it's still food.

Another stupid idea from the shower

NBA Cares Commercial

Zoom in to Michael Jordan helping LeBron pronounce "I'ma take my talents to South Beach" and he does this a few times.

Then zoom to Michael and he says "Hi. I'm Michael Jordan. For 10 years, the NBA and I have worked with underprivileged athletes to help them make their way into the NBA."

Shows examples: Dikembe Mutombo practing his finger wagging. Latrell Sprewell choking a teddy bear. Tim Duncan practing whining and complaining.

Close out with the NBA Cares logo and slogan.

Probably sucks but picturing it happen seems really funny to me.

I was listening to Comfortably Numb on the ride back from the dentist. It seemed so fitting.

YA KNOW

I feel uglier today than other days. Am I alone?

Shower talk

Here's a scenario I thought of this morning.

There's a couple who just had sex and sometimes the lady likes to save the sperm in case the husband isn't able to perform anymore or dies or whatever. One day she's sitting around with her friends and they decide that it would be fun to each try to get pregnant from his sperm. Of course her friends are all single, desperate, and are dying to have children. It ends up that a few of her friends end up being pregnant and technically have a baby with the husband, who has had no clue all along. I haven't thought about this part of the story in much detail but it's a weird thought from this morning. I have no clue if it's even realistic or if it's happened before so there you go.

SHOWA

I always forget about what the hell is going on in the shower. I do a lot of thinking in there and then I realize that I don't remember if washed my hair already or even how long I've been in there. It's like when you look back on how you got home from work. You don't remember driving home but you're at home and you were paying attention but it has just become a routine that you don't really need to think about it too much. I know I've mentioned it before, but am I alone with this?

Brackets yay

Another year, another last place. It just goes to show that the last place finisher is awesome and probably should get some of the pool because they are good.

Final Four: It's crazy because you can bring up a story about each one of them.

Butler: Insane getting back there after losing Hayward and all in close games.

VCU: 11 seed and a play in game. Really?

Kentucky: Not as surprising but they sent basically everyone to the NBA last year and are pretty much completely different.

UConn: The 9 games in 19 days or whatever it was at is pretty crazy.

I wish Bruce could get the most out of the talent on his team :(

TOURNEY TIME

Praise me because I have the perfect bracket. FOR NOW. If you haven't received Cosmo's bracket then feel free to ask me and I'll send it to you.

Today I either burn with my bracket or look like a god part 1.

What the hell, NBC? Why are you showing new stuff tonight? IT'S THE MADNESS. GET WITH IT.

Random stuff that I remember doing afterwards

-- At school I showered with my regular sandals. It took about 3 days or so for them to fully dry and they were never the same after that.

-- I was running on little sleep and I put apple juice in my cereal.

-- Multiple times I've forgotten to put shampoo in my hair in the shower. I'm a daydreamer I guess.

-- This one goes along with the shower daydreaming but I know I've put the soap in my hair at least a few times.

-- I forgot that we have two drawers full of silverware and had been using the crappy ones for a while. I don't know how long but I was always wondering what happened to the good spoons.

I'm sure there are more but those are the ones I came up with right now.

Funny observations from Rutgers-St Johns game

I know these have all been mentioned already but I don't care.

-- Why would you throw a hail mary with that much time left?

-- The St Johns guy was over the back of a Rutgers guy on the throw

-- The SJ guy traveled and went out of bounds

-- There was still time left

-- If they found time left then throwing the ball into the stands was a technical foul

-- The refs suck balls

I know I'm forgetting stuff but that's good enough.

Why did the refs suck at the end. Pick one, some, or all.

1. The total was set at 128.5 (at least at a lot of places) and the score was 65-63. Who needed that under? The fix is in!

2. The refs were told to let SJ win regardless of how it occurred because of NY bias. I'm sure Jay Z or A Rod was in on it.

3. Rutgers wasn't going anywhere anyway so who cares about this crappy game?

4. The refs just suck, plain and simple.

5. Tim Donaghy was involved.

6. All of the above.

AND GO UTSA!!!!!!

Cluesday

-- I guess those traps in the back area are working out well. Two days ago we caught a possum and last night we caught a possum. Was it the same one?

-- Conference tourney madness. Does IL need to win to get in?

-- Do I have a chance to pull off a miracle in any of the pools?

-- March Madness is coming so let me know if you plan on joining the pool!

-- Charlie Sheen needs to go away.

EYE DAY

Hello friends,

-- I declare today a shitty eating day. Cake this morning. Chipotle for lunch. Sushi for dinner. Yep, hopefully I don't die.

-- Lots of tourney brackets and I'm as confused as ever.

-- When will my bobbles arrive?

-- S'all I got for now.

Thursday, March 03, 2011

FURSDAY

-- I didn't know you could get a craving for Pita Inn. I love Pita but it never struck me as a craving food.

-- I thought my phone was broken but Meg and her iPhone "skills" to the rescue.

-- I would be considered the Charlie Sheen of BYU if I went there.

-- Working on cutting down on the facebook friends. I was at 230 and will probably make it down to 100 or 50. It really shouldn't be that difficult as long as I'm not taking away some of Meg's gossip people.

-- Soccer jersey picture will be coming (as requested) but I need help taking the pic first.

Wednesday, March 02, 2011

Whensday?

-- Trap set in the back area so let's get that freakin' skunk.

-- Oh hey so I got my jersey yesterday or should I say Meg's jersey. The jersey is wayyyyyyyyyyy too small and is almost too tight for Meg. f IODJS: FIOS DJFO SDJIOF SDJO:I F:SDIO FJSDIO: (I'll take a pic if requested (maybe))

-- fsdiofj;oisd fjioas dfio; jsdiof jawdo;if oasdji fosdfj o;si

-- Conf tourneys baby

-- Time to fill out my "Great Expectations" workbook. This should be swell.

Tuesday, March 01, 2011

Poosday

-- FU skunk. Thing sprayed in the middle of the night so I couldn't sleep or breath. Hopefully he's gone soon.

-- Congrats Meg

-- Got my Valencia jersey so now we can party down soccer jersey style!

-- I'd like to have my spacing back on my google docs

-- Having the end of the month on a Monday is really bad

additional Moonday thought

OH HEY! Today's my half birthday. Thanks for the wishes, buttholes.

Moonday

Heh, when I read Moonday I think of a southern accent saying Monday.

-- Why does healthy food have to be so much more expensive? It's hard enough to eat better but now I have to pay more. It's very discouraging and it's obvious they want everyone to be fat. FU food.

-- Charlie Sheen is a douche. I knew this before but it's more obvious now. How can a moron make 2 million an episode when all he does is be himself? I've always imagined his role in 2.5 to require no acting at all because that's what I've always envisioned him to be like in real life. Guess it's time they hooked me up with a show.

-- Rooney needs to pay for his elbow.

-- Breakfast was good. Thanks Meg (I doubt you read this)

-- Is Illinois a tournament team? You tell me.

Friday, February 25, 2011

Friday

Eat some fries, yeah yeah.

-- I had a candy relapse yesterday afternoon. I'm not proud of it but it was bound to happy once we got some great candy here.

-- Lots of crap to do for the wedding so hopefully that gets going this weekend.

-- purchased the Twins and Cubs bobbles for a discount from someone else so I'm excited about that.

-- get ready for Cole's favorite cereals

-- hopefully it doesn't smell like skunk anymore

-- I would like my soccer jersey now please

Thursday, February 24, 2011

Thursday Thoughts

Hello reader(s)

-- It appears that I did forget shampoo yesterday, which is funny. Guess I need to stop daydreaming in the shower.

-- I really want these 4 all star bobbleheads on ebay but each one is at least $65 or so. They would help me complete my set, but there's no way I can pay that much. This is the only place I've seen them. UGHHHH

-- Baseball is coming and I'm ready to draft teams for our pool and get my fantasy stuff going

-- Aren't you excited to see what Nate's favorite movie is tomorrow?

-- This thought makes absolutely no sense. I feel like it should be Friday but it definitely feels like it shouldn't be Thursday. Whatever.

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

oh HEY it's Wednesday

Random thoughts for Feb 23. It's a Wednesday

-- nice to be Wednesday even though the Wednesday vibe isn't there

-- hair felt weird today so now I'm thinking maybe I didn't use shampoo. I really don't remember.

-- Glad I didn't watch IL last night. Looks like the sucked as usual. Huge underachievers this year

-- Survivor tonight. I don't know why I'm so addicted now.

-- the shampoo thing is really annoying me. Time machine?
